Vegetable soak: (In place of chlorox) Add 1/4 cup 3% food
grade hydrogen peroxide to a sink full of cold water. Soak light vegetables
(lettuce, etc.) 20 minutes, thicker skinned vegetables for 30 minutes. Drain
To Freshen the Kitchen: Keep a bottle of 3% food grade hydrogen peroxide in
the kitchen. Use it to wipe off counter tops and appliances. It disinfects
and gives the kitchen a fresh smell. Works great inside the refrigerator and
on Formica counter tops.
In the Dishwasher: Add 2 ozs. of 3% food grade hydrogen peroxide to your
regular washing formula. Glasses will really sparkle.
Sprouting seeds: Add 1 oz. of 3% food grade hydrogen peroxide to 1 pint of
water and soak the seeds overnight. Add the same amount of H202 each time
the seeds are rinsed.
AROUND THE HOUSE:
Humidifiers & Steamers: Use 1 pint 3% food grade H202 to 1
gallon of water.
Washing & Laundry: Add 8 ozs. of 3% food grade H202 to wash in place of
Facial: Use 3% food grade hydrogen peroxide on a cotton ball after washing.
Avoid eyebrows and eyes.
Rejuvenating & Detoxifying Bath: Use 250 ml (1 cup) of 35% food grade H2O2
to a tub. Soak at least for 30 minutes. Wonderful invigorating effervescent
Hot Tub Use: Hydrogen peroxide is a healthy, environmentally friendly
alternative to chlorine in your hot tub. Switch to hydrogen peroxide and you
will be bathing in clean, oxygen enriched, odor free water. Always check
with the manufacturer of your pool or tub as to the compatibility of
hydrogen peroxide with your system.
Shower: Keep a spray bottle of 3% H2O2 in the shower. Spray body after
washing to replace the acid mantle on your skin that soap removes.
Foot Soak: Add 1 ½ ounces of 35% H2O2, to 1 gallon water and soak.
AROUND THE FARM:
Many farmers have reported good results from the use of food
grade H202. Claims have been made of reduced disease, increased butterfat in
milk, higher egg production, heavier chickens and healthier fruit and fish.
The following is a summary of how some farmers and ranchers use H202:
Drinking Water for Farm Animals: Use 8 ozs. of 35% food
grade H202 per 1000 gallons of water or 30 ppm.
Dairy Barn: Use as a pipeline rinse for milkstone. As a rule, 2 to 4 ounces
of 35% H202 to 15 gallons of water will work with good results. Also works
well for rinsing milk cans and bulk tanks to keep down bacteria as well as
Power Wash: To sanitize dairy barns or hog houses use enough hydrogen
peroxide to cause a light foaming action when spraying the floors and walls.
Leave this until the foaming subsides, and rinse again. If foaming recurs,
either raise the amount of H202 or continue at the same level and respray.
Udder Wash: Use 1 oz. of 35% H202 to a gallon of warm water. The cows tend
to have softer teats and are freer of bacteria which reduces bacteria in the
Colostrum Milk: To keep if from spoilage until it is all fed to the newborn
calf, depending on the time of year, pH of the milk, temperature, etc., one
can use from 1/4 oz. to up to 1 oz. of 35% H202 per gallon of colostrum
Newborn Calves: To add extra oxygen, add 10 to 15 drops 35% H202 to a bottle
of milk, morning and evening, per calf. This has helped to brighten up
calves and in some cases of scours, depending on the pH of the milk being
Drench: For high fever and off- feed cows with mastitis, depending on the
situation and case, mix 1 to 2 ounces of 35% H202 to 1 quart of water,
drenching the animal morning and evening for as long as needed, usually 2-3
Ailing Cows: Use 1 pint of 3% H202 to 5 gallons of water.
Induce vomiting: Use 3% H202.
Animal Wounds: Clean wounds of animals with 3% H202.
Afterbirth of Cows: Cows settle and clean out faster after giving birth to a
calf when H202 is added to their drinking water.
Decontamination of Broiler Chicken Carcasses: A 0.5% to 1% solution has been
used for 10 minutes as a soak to decontaminate for salmonella.
Pets: For small animals (dogs and cats) use 1 oz. 3% food grade H202 to 1
quart of water.
IN THE GARDEN:
Foliar Feed: For crops, put 16 ozs. of 35% food grade
hydrogen peroxide into 20 gallons of water. This is sufficient for one acre.
Spray on plants early in the morning.
Seed Germination: To germinate seeds put 1 to 5 ozs. of 3% hydrogen peroxide
into a pint of distilled water. Soak the seeds for 8 hours. Excellent
results have been reported on older seeds as well as fresh.
Insecticide: Mix 8 ozs. or more of 3% H202 to a gallon of water with 8 ozs.
of molasses or white sugar (molasses seems to adhere to the plant better).
House & Garden Plants: Put 1 oz. of 3% H202 into a quart of water (or add 16
drops 35% to 1 quart water). Water or mist plants with this solution.
Orchards: Water ground around the trees using 6-8 ozs. of 3% food grade
hydrogen peroxide to a gallon of water, and also use it as a foliar spray.
Fish Farming: Being used at the rate of 5 ppm to control fungal growth on
fish. Tropical fish raisers use 1 oz. of 35% food grade hydrogen peroxide to
20 gallons of water. Caution: More is NOT better.
To make a 3% H202 solution, take one (1) ounce of 35% food
grade hydrogen peroxide and mix with 11 ounces of water, preferably
distilled water, to obtain 12 ounces of 3% H202.
1 Pint 35% food grade hydrogen peroxide makes 1.5 gallons of
3% H2O2 solution.
1 Quart 35% food grade hydrogen peroxide makes 3 gallons of
3% H2O2 solution.
1 Gallon 35% food grade hydrogen peroxide makes 12 gallons
of 3% H202 solution.
GRADES OF HYDROGEN PEROXIDE
3% Hydrogen Peroxide (Drug/Grocery Store Variety)
Used as antimicrobial agent for treating wounds and sanitizing agent [Made
from 50% Super D Peroxide, Diluted. Contains stabilizers - phenol,
acetanilide, sodium stanate, tetrasodium phosphate among them.] [This
peroxide contains known chemicals do not ingest!]
6% Hydrogen Peroxide
Used by Beauticians for Coloring Hair. Used as sanitizing agent. Comes in
strengths labeled 10,20,40 volume. Must have activator added to be used as a
bleach. [Contains stabilizers, additives, and impurities dependent on
manufacturing and dilution process. Do not ingest.]
30% Re-Agent Hydrogen Peroxide
Used in medical research. [Contains stabilizers, additives, and impurities
dependent on manufacturing and dilution process. Do not ingest.]
30-32% Electronic Grade Hydrogen Peroxide
Used for washing transistors and integrated chip parts before assembly.
[Contains stabilizers, additives, and impurities dependent on manufacturing
and dilution process. Do not ingest.]
35% Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide (Also 50% Food Grade H2O2)
Used in food products like cheese, eggs, whey products. Also used to spray
inside of foil lined containers for food storage - known as the aseptic
packaging system. Used for the disinfection of potable water. Also used
(diluted) to disinfect, kill bacteria, sanitize wounds and introduce oxygen
into the body. Eg. bathing, gargle, toothpaste, treat drinking water, etc.
35% Technical Grade Hydrogen Peroxide
Used for waste water treatment and the disinfection of potable water,
cosmetics, and laundry applications. Also used (diluted) to disinfect, kill
bacteria, sanitize wounds and introduce oxygen into the body. Eg. bathing,
gargle, toothpaste, treat drinking water, etc. [May contain a small amount
of phosphorus to neutralize any chlorine in the water it is combined with.]
35% Standard Grade Hydrogen Peroxide (Also 50%, 60%, 70%
Used mainly for bleaching in the pulp and paper industry and in the textile
industry; oxidation reactions in the chemical industry; environmental
processes (detoxification and deodorization). Used for Waste water
treatment. [Contains stabilizers, additives, and impurities Do not ingest.]
90% Hydrogen Peroxide
Used by the military as a source of Oxygen at Cape Canaveral. Used as a
propulsion source in rocket fuel.
99.6% Hydrogen Peroxide
This was first made in 1954 as an experiment to see how pure a hydrogen
peroxide could be manufactured.
WARNING: This product is a
VERY strong oxidizer and will temporarily turn skin white on contact. NEVER
use 35% food grade Hydrogen Peroxide without diluting it first. Read First
Aid precautions on label before using.
